Welcoming new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones is always a special moment for any group. Whether you have just joined us or are returning after some time away, this is your space to connect, share, and enjoy the activities that bring us together. A Community Built on Shared Interests

Our group is more than just a collection of individuals; it is a community where friendships grow through shared interests. Whether you live in Glasgow, Ayrshire, or nearby areas, you will find events that suit your interests and schedule.

Book Group: More Than Just Reading

Our Book Group is a cornerstone of the group. It’s not just about reading books but about engaging in conversations, discovering new authors, and exploring different perspectives. Each month, we select a book that brings discussion and points of view. Recent picks have included contemporary Scottish authors as well as international bestsellers.

  • Meetings take place in our comfortable regular venues in Glasgow and Ayrshire.

  • Members suggest & vote for the books, creating a democratic and diverse reading list.

  • Discussions are lively but welcoming to all opinions.

If you love books and enjoy sharing your thoughts, the Book Group is a perfect way to meet like-minded people.

Savouring Moments with Wine Tasting Events

For those who appreciate fine wine and good company, our Wine Tasting & Cheese & Wine events offer a relaxed atmosphere to explore new flavours and learn about wine regions. These gatherings are held in local venues known for their excellent selection.

  • Each event features a curated selection of wines

  • Expert sommeliers often join to guide tastings and answer questions.

  • Pairings with local cheeses and snacks enhance the experience.

Whether you are a seasoned wine lover or just curious, these tastings provide a great way to unwind and socialise.

Theatre Outings That Bring Stories to Life

Our group also enjoys regular trips to the Theatre, where we experience live performances ranging from classic plays to modern musicals. Attending theatre together strengthens bonds and offers a shared cultural experience.

  • Trips are organised to theatres in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr, Pitlochry, Dundee & beyond

  • Group discounts make attending more affordable.

  • Pre-show discussions are encouraged over drinks.

Theatre outings are a highlight for many members, combining entertainment with social connection.

How to Get Involved

Joining our activities is simple and welcoming. Here’s how you can get started:

  • Book Group: Sign up for the monthly meeting to receive book selections and meeting details.

  • Wine Tasting: Register for upcoming events through our website

  • Theatre: Watch for announcements about shows and group bookings, and reserve your spot early.

We encourage new members to introduce themselves at events and returning members to reconnect with old friends and share their experiences with new members to make them feel welcome.

Why Membership Matters

Being part of this group offers more than just activities. It provides:

  • Opportunities to meet people who share your interests.

  • A chance to explore cultural and social events in Glasgow and Ayrshire.

  • Supportive & safe environment for making new friends and expanding your social circle.

Our members often tell us how these events have enriched their lives, offering both relaxation and connection with others.

Looking Ahead

We have exciting plans for the coming months, including our Wine Wednesday nights, the monthly Book Groups, theatre, cinema, ballet, brunches, board games, curry nights, quiz nights, electric darts, ten pin bowling, afternoon tea and much more. Your participation makes these events special, so we look forward to seeing you there.

If you have ideas or want to help organise, please reach out. This community thrives on member involvement.

Welcoming new members and celebrating returning ones is about more than just numbers. It’s about building connections, sharing passions, and creating memories. Whether you join us for a Book Group chat, a Wine Tasting evening, or a night at the Theatre, you are part of something special. We invite you to come on in, meet others, and enjoy all that our group has to offer.

Since being widowed two years ago, I have been on "Solo" holidays, meetings with Spice Social and events with "MeetUp". I have just joined this group, but not yet been to a meeting. To people who say they are nervous: I quite understand, but meeting new people and extending my horizons has been the saving of me - I'm sure that, whatever the reason that you are on your own, you WILL get a real benefit from these groups

Hi Shona, just remember that none of us knew anyone the first time so everyone gets it. It's a friendly group. Just take the plunge and you'll have a great time!
