Tucked into the vibrant West End of Glasgow at Sandyford Place, Gael & Grain officially opened its doors in true Scottish style—complete with a piper, locally sourced food and a buzzing crowd that set the tone for something special.
As my taxi pulled up, I was immediately met with the sound of the bagpipes—a welcome as warm as the hospitality that followed. Inside, the venue was electric with laughter, conversation, the always fun sound of corks popping and the tantalising scent of the evening’s menu tasters which paid homage to Scottish classics with a modern twist.

Highlights from the night’s bites? The smoked salmon blinis were beautiful, the roast beef & horseradish bites packed a punch and the haggis & neeps-stuffed potato skins drizzled with whisky sauce were fantastic!
Of course no evening would be complete without a toast to the new venue —enter the Honeybee Cocktail. Made with locally sourced honey from the charming Ed’s Bees it was the perfect blend of sweet and sharp. A huge cheers to Sophie and the team at Lomond Leisure Group for putting together such a memorable evening.
The venue was absolutely mobbed - a true testament to the buzz around this new venture, and it was great to bump into familiar faces from Glasgow’s social scene. Between the awesome food, superb cocktails and the exciting plans Sophie shared—including a Boozy Brunch (yes please!) and the return of comedy nights in the basement with top comedian Ross Leslie—Gael & Grain is firmly on my “must return soon” list.
To all involved in bringing Gael & Grain to life—well done, and good luck. Something tells me this is only the beginning.
